Usetiful offers a simple way to run multi-lingual product tours. With our localization feature, translating product tours has become easier. However, if you still prefer or need to use manual translation methods, the following steps outline how to do so effectively:


First Step is to Create and Translate Your Tours

  • Create your product tour in your master language (for example, English).

  • Clone your tour and translate it into one of your secondary languages (for example, German).


Now, you have two tours: one in English and another in German. The next steps ensure that the appropriate tour is displayed based on the user's language.


Targeting Options for Multi-Lingual Tours

Depending on how your product/page is built, you can target users in one of the following ways:


A. Leveraging User Segmentation

This is the most reliable method. If your installed Usetiful script shares the language as a tag, you can target tours using this condition.

For example:

  • Configure your Usetiful script to send the user's language as a tag.

  • In the tour settings, set up targeting based on the language tag.


B. Using Browser Language

The setting "Language is" checks the preferred language in the visitor's browser settings and displays the corresponding tour.

Example:

  • If the browser's preferred language is English, the tour in English will be displayed.

  • Here’s an example of setting up browser language targeting:



C. Using the URL

If your pages contain the language in their URL (e.g., www.exampledomain.com/de-de/pagename), you can target tours using the condition "URL contains."

Example:

  • Target condition: URL contains "de-de"

D. Using a Language Selector

If your page provides a language selector, you can target the user's choice using the condition "Element text contains."

Example setup:

  • Language selector HTML: <div class="abc-selected-option-text">English</div>

  • Target condition: Element text contains "English"

When users switch languages, the text (e.g., "English") in the element will update, and Usetiful will display the corresponding tour.



With the localization feature, you no longer need to clone and manually translate tours. Localization allows you to manage translations directly within a single tour, making it easier to update and maintain.
